King of New York Eagle Race

Adirondacks (KONY) - Justin Beckwith has ruled New York's whitewater rivers for nearly a decade. Even before rising to King of New York in 2011, Justin reigned in the Adirondacks with an unrelenting string of victories on the Moose and Black Rivers going back to the dawn of this century. King of New York whitewater race seriesBeckwith is a natural talent who derives much of his strength from the cross training he does while coaching his child army of Nordic skiers in the mountains of Vermont. It was there, in 2007 when Justin boldly proclaimed himself to be the "Best Kayaker in Vermont" after bolstering his arsenal with a full carbon wildwater kayak.

It is believed that J-Beck returned to Vermont this winter to recruit and train more child athletes. Meanwhile, Adirondack villages are buzzing with revolutionary discontent as rebellious kayakers train to topple the throne. Though Northeastern paddlers clamor for Justin's ouster, KONY has received little attention from the rest of the world.

The media and establishment turn a blind eye to the punishment Jah Beck has dealt out to kayakers in the deep woods of New York's Adirondack Park. The Barre Montpelier Times Argus perpetuated Beckwith's claims of being the best kayaker in Vermont. The prestigious New England Nordic Skiing Association dubbed Justin the 2012 Coach of the Year this April -- Not even one-third of the way through 2012! Can we allow a known golfer and rollerblader to rule Adirondack whitewater for another year? Please help us stop this Vermonster from beating us all again in 2012. The revolution has begun and we need you to race against Justin for 2012 King of New York.

Invisible Challengers
It was last year that one Adirondack villager took on a personal challenge to ascend to the throne. Gunning for Beckwith, pretty good kayaker, Matt Young, trained to be in peak physical condition at the Black River Race. After a hard fought display of superior conditioning, Young was outmaneuvered when a daring Beckwith ran the portage in his 14 foot recreational kayak. Never again would Matt get that close to victory. He made pretty good attempts at the Eagle and Raquette races but Matt's campaign came to an end hours before the Moose River Race when he suffered a season ending shoulder injury. After retreating to mend his wounds, Matt returned to the rivers this Spring with a deeply personal desire to oust Justin Beckwith as King of New York.
